Call for Writings 2024 University of Oxford – Writing Workshops The Defiant Scholarship They are inviting talented young students working on “defiant scholarship in Africa”-related subjects and practices to apply for writing workshops in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Participants will work to identify and address the educational imperialism(s) and racism(s) that persists in the current publishing developments during these three-day hybrid workshops.
In line with self-referencing, recurrent, and imperial methods used in psychological studies, they will focus on research that explores decolonizing, solidarity, and anti-colonial approaches (according to Ake 1979).

Most importantly, our group rejects popular models of North/South writing workshops, which typically start with implicit assumptions that there is a lack of publishing expertise or competence in African contexts that has to be “corrected.”

They start these courses with a mutual optimism for learning new things, and being bold, The objectives of this project include encouraging and building up local scholarly writing communities as well as creative thinking, , and “patient when it comes to scholarship” (Mountz et al. 2015).
It workshops are intended to give researchers from Central Africa and the western part of Africa—who are already involved in dissident scholarship—an opportunity for collaboration. Learn how to perform analytical politics of coalition building as a multinational entity (see Lugones 2003).
It is to increase the amount of work that uncovers counter-histories and provides alternative political transformation and empowerment imaginaries that are based on social relations, ecological balance, and well-being.

To do this, we will break down the variations that have become embedded in corporate publishing models and acquire knowledge from the substantial corpus of research that highlights the inconsistencies and complacencies.

As a global university, Rhodes Institute leverages its vast range of international connections to bring together people with different backgrounds and perspectives.
They encourage them to test each other’s beliefs, conduct open discussions, and develop fresh ideas. The late Cecil Rhodes expected his Trustees to adapt his tactics to deal with developments.
Immediately afterward, his Trustees established more scholarships for Canada than he had. With three Acts of the British Parliament and other major changes to his will, the process of adaptation continued.
